Building on the success of previous years, GFMF 2016 has hosted another world-class line up of speakers and panelists, topical and relevant content, plus unparalleled networking opportunities.
GFMF has evolved to become what is now regarded as the premier annual financial markets conference in the MENA region, attracting over 1600 delegates and set in what can only be described as the ultimate venue in the region, the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
This flagship gathering in Abu Dhabi is now part of the Global Financial Markets Series which comprises of events in other prominent cities around the world, focusing on specific topics that are relevant to the West-East Corridor.
In recent years we have been privileged to have hosted highly distinguished speakers from all over the world, including Tony Blair, Dr Mohamed El-Erian, Yanis Varoufakis, General Colin Powell, Dr Ben Bernanke, Dr Larry Summers, Secretary James Baker, Nicholas Sarkozy, Jean-Claude Trichet, Niall Ferguson and Paul Volcker, to name just a few. In addition, we have been extremely proud to welcome prominent speakers from Abu Dhabi & Dubai, such as His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nayahan, Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, His Excellency Nasser Ahmed AlSowaidi among others, as well as senior dignitaries from the broader Middle East region.
Over and above the main plenary content that is staged in the Emirates Palace auditorium over the two days of the forum, the event also provides focused and niche content off-stage. At GFMF 2016 these break-out sessions included Investor Presentations, a gathering hosted by the traders in NBAD’s Global Markets team to discuss their views of Global Financial Markets in 2016, a presentation by the Merchant Banking team on Mergers & Acquisitions and Equity Capital Markets, a workshop hosted by NBAD’s risk management team, and a Women In Business gathering – all of which were very well received by delegates.
GFMF 2016 featured a great mix of international and regional speakers, facilitating thought-provoking discussions and debate both on and off stage. In addition the forum was covered extensively by CNBC who were broadcasting live on their international network from their purpose-built on-site studio at the forum.
NBAD is extremely proud to host this prestigious forum, supported by Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development, Abu Dhabi Department of Finance and the UAE Central Bank.
